This year I decided that I wanted to wear something subtle and romantic for my Valentine’s Day outfit. I always think that wearing the traditional combination of red and pink makes me look more like a cupcake or dessert, rather than giving my outfit an air of romance. Therefore, instead I opted to wear a simple blue dress which I dressed up with heels and accessories. After all, we all have our own way of expressing love and romance.

I wore my Valentine’s Day outfit a few days early this year because I have a special event at work today and have to dress appropriately. However, I’m not bummed about that at all because the special event I get to participate in is One Billion Rising, a global movement which seeks to empower victims of violence to speak out and demand justice. The event is held in conjunction with V-Day, a movement created by feminist activist, playwright and performer Eve Ensler to promote an end to violence against women and girls. I truly cannot think of a better way to spend a holiday that celebrates love, than by showing support to survivors of violence and teaching the community about healthy relationships and respect for one another.
Needless to say, I am very pumped about V-Day and having the opportunity to do something that I love. I hope that you all have an amazing Valentine’s Day filled with love and friendship as well.
